If thirty musicals are enough. From Sherlock Holmes to Frida and Grease.

Between timeless shows and (a few) new additions, a top-notch season on Lombardy's stages is underway. The curtain rises with Neri Marcorè, Lorella Cuccarini, Drusilla Foer, Max Laudadio, and Giò Di Tonno.
There are around thirty musicals on the bill for the 2025-26 season in Lombardy's theaters . Many are returning, but few are new. The most striking is probably the Italian debut of The Book of Mormons , written by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone (creators of the highly successful TV series "South Park") and Robert Lopez ("Avenue Q"), which will be performing the original production at the Arcimboldi Theater from December 10th to 21st.
Also at the Arcimboldi, but from October 30th to November 2nd, Frida Opera Musical links art, revolution, and passion to the life and works of Frida Kahlo, with the participation of Drusilla Foer, music by Vincenzo Incenzo, and direction by Andrea Ortis.
Neri Marcorè becomes Sherlock Holmes in the musical of the same name, directed by Andrea Cecchi, on November 7th at the Clerici Theatre in Brescia and on January 25th at the Cagnoni Theatre in Vigevano. "Don't dream it, be it!" is the mantra that fans of the Rocky Horror Show are preparing to repeat with Jason Donovan, the star of the international production of Richard O'Brien's musical, which hits the Arcimboldi Theatre from November 18th to 23rd. "What a feeling!" is the mantra of Flashdance , a cornerstone of the Teatro Nazionale's program, running from November 9th to January 3rd in the Compagnia della Rancia production. Another fast-growing classic is Hair , the "tribal love-rock musical" by Gerome Ragni and James Rado with music by Galt MacDermot, directed by Simone Nardini, which arrives at the Manzoni Theatre in Monza on November 22nd, at the Fraschini Theatre in Pavia on the 28th, and from December 30th to January 11th at the Carcano Theatre in Milan.
By popular demand, the return of Anastasia , the musical based on the animated cult film of the same name, directed by Federico Bellone, will take place at the PalaUnical in Mantua on November 22nd and at the ChorusLife Arena in Bergamo from December 4th to 7th. Scrooge vs. Scrooge in the (not so) close battle between Fabrizio Angelini's version of " A Christmas Carol ," starring Roberto Ciufoli and music by Alan Menken, scheduled for the PalaUnical in Mantua on November 30th, at the Lirico in Milan on December 13th and 14th, and Melina Pellicano's version, starring Fabrizio Rizzo and music by Stefano Lori and Marco Caselle, at the Carcano in Milan from December 18th to 21st, at the Infinity 1 event space in Cremona on the 26th and at the Teatro di Varese on the 28th.
Also at the end of the year, Stefano d'Orazio's Aladin returns, with music by Pooh and Max Laudadio in the role of the Genie, on December 27th at the Teatro Sociale in Como, on December 31st and January 1st at the Cagnoni in Vigevano, and on January 6th at the Infinity 1 in Cremona. Another return is Saturday Night Fever by the Compagnia della Rancia, on December 31st and January 1st at the Fraschini in Pavia, on the 17th and 18th at the Teatro Sociale in Sondrio, from March 19th to 29th at the Repower in Assago, as well as Giuliano Peparini's The Three Musketeers , with music by Giò Di Tonno, performed by Di Tonno himself along with Vittorio Matteucci and Graziano Galatone, on January 17th and 18th at the Lirico in Milan. The trio of Tonno, Matteucci, and Galatone was born (and could reappear) in the cast of Notre-Dame de Paris, on stage from February 26th to March 15th at the Arcimboldi Theatre, and from May 22nd to 24th at the PalaGeorge in Montichiari. Among the unmissable titles is " Aggiungi un posto a tavola ," with Giovanni Scifoni and Lorella Cuccarini, returning from January 16th to 18th at the ChorusLife Arena in Bergamo and from February 5th to 8th at the Nazionale in Milan. Another international production is " Cats ," hosted at the Arcimboldi Theatre from January 27th to February 1st. An Italian production, " We Will Rock You, " arrives in the sacred name of Queen on February 7th at the Teatro di Varese, on the 19th at the Galleria in Legnano, on the 21st at the ChorusLife Arena in Bergamo, and from April 9th to 19th at the Nazionale in Milan. With its Sixties nostalgia , Sapore di mare also reappears, based on the Vanzina blockbuster and directed by Maurizio Colombi, on March 10th in Como and on the 21st in Pavia. The perennial “ Grease ” by the Compagnia della Rancia is also on show, from April 9th to 19th at the Teatro Repower in Assago, on the 20th in Varese, on the 21st in Vigevano, on May 11th in Mantua and on May 14th and 15th in Como. Luciano Cannitto is re-editing a great classic like Singing in the Rain on March 13th and 14th at the Clerici in Brescia. But the list doesn't end here. And among the other titles of the upcoming season are “ Forza venite gente ”, Pimpa the musical , Cain and Abel , Alice in Wonderland , The Little Mermaid , Beauty and the Beast , A Rose for Life , Pinocchio , and The Little Prince .
