The 'Pino Pascali Experience' arrives at the Italian Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka during the week dedicated to Puglia. The narration about the master of Apulian arte povera is accompanied by images that introduce spectators to the artist. "Through multimedia and interactive fruition, an immersive and virtual experience 'Cinque bachi da setola e un cozzolo' (1968)" explains Giuseppe Teofilo, director of the Pino Pascali Foundation, in Polignano a Mare, "the public will be able to enter the heart of Pascale's work and artistic research and in fact learn about his entire life". Although he was not born in Polignano a Mare, Pascali maintains a very close bond with the city, where his parents were born. "Pascali represents art, represents culture, represents the vocation that Polignano and the territory of Polignano has for art and for the values of culture" explains Mayor Vito Carrieri. The mayor emphasizes how Pascali is in all respects a bridge to Japan, "a bridge made with a people who in many ways are similar to the Italians, especially the Apulians." A concrete bond, even with Osaka itself.
"We are aware of the importance of the artist Pino Pascali and his work," explains Tomio Sugaya, director of the Nakanoshima Art Museum in Osaka, and "we are very proud to have his works in our museum collection." A love that began about 20 years ago, says Sugaya: "We were very surprised when a gallery in Tokyo presented us with a work by Pascali and we didn't think it was possible to have a collection of works by an artist like Pascali. So we said: 'Such an important work, we are honored to have it in our permanent collection.'" In the Polignano headquarters there is the only museum of contemporary art in Puglia and its activity is divided into temporary exhibitions, permanent collection and the Pino Pascali Award. In addition to the archive and the artist's graphic works, the Foundation owns the video and photographic collections of Pino Pascali.
