Fano: Tubi Lungimiranti Brings the Beat Generation Back to Life at Rocca Malatestiana

The current lineup of Tubi Lungimiranti on the Rocca stage
Fano (Pesaro and Urbino), Tuesday, August 19, 2025 - A curtain rises not just on music, but on an entire season of culture. At the Rocca Malatestiana in Fano, on Friday, August 22, at 9:15 pm, time will slide back over half a century to restore the rebellious echoes of the Beat Generation and the electric pulses of Italian beat music. The scene seems already written: an ancient bastion welcoming a journey where poetry, rhythm, and memory intertwine under the late summer stars. The protagonists are Tubi Lungimiranti, a historic Fano band that left its mark in the 1960s and is still ready to surprise today with the show evocatively titled: "The Scream and the Capelloni – From the Beat Generation to Beat Music." A concert that is more than just a concert, but a theatrical and musical tale that spans eras and sensibilities. Leading the group is Umberto Bultrighini, the soul and narrator of the band, who, with guitar, bouzouki, and harmonica, will lead the audience through Kerouac's visionary streets and the bustling squares of young Italians with bobs and electric guitars. Joining him on stage will be Francesca Castellini (lead vocals and narrator), Claudio Pacifici (narrator), Nicola Zanchi Aguzzi (bass and vocals), Gigi Tomassoni (drums and percussion), and Giovanni Patregnani (keyboards, guitar, vocals). And then there's the special guest: Gene Guglielmi, poet and singer-songwriter, a symbol of the Beat era, whose 1960s song "I capelli lunghi" (Long Hair), which became almost a generational anthem, will give body and voice to the "scream" of the generation that changed music and customs. The project, part of the Musicology Live series directed by Massimo Puliani, is constructed as a narrative that alternates poetic texts and songs, aiming to demonstrate how the long wave of the American Beat Generation has also spilled over into Italy, contaminating sounds and languages. This formula brings culture and entertainment into dialogue , offering audiences the sensation of an experience rather than a simple performance. The imposing 15th-century Rocca Malatestiana thus becomes an integral part of the scene: a natural stage that amplifies the vibrations of a music born to break patterns and conventions. A place seemingly tailor-made to contain the stories of those who lived through the years of change and bring them to new life today. Tickets are available on Liveticket and at the box office of the Teatro della Fortuna in Fano. Tickets are €20 for full price and €15 for reduced price for those under 25. An event that promises to transform into a small collective film: lights, words, notes, and memories compose an evocative mosaic linking Fano to the unique era of the Beat Generation and Italian beat music. An opportunity to immerse yourself in a musical and cultural journey that, decades later, retains its rebellious charm intact.
