Cinema and Territory, Ischia Film Festival Launches Italy for Movies Award

“With pride and renewed enthusiasm – reads a note -, the Ischia Film Festival announces the start of a new and significant collaboration with Italy for Movies , the official platform for the promotion of locations and audiovisual productions in Italy, promoted by the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Ministry of Culture and created by Cinecittà in collaboration with the Italian Film Commissions. From this prestigious synergy comes the “ Italy for Movies Award”, a special recognition that aims to enhance Italian production excellence and the impact that the audiovisual sector has on the promotion of the territory, on the growth of film tourism and on attracting cultural and economic investments in our country”. The new award, established thanks to the direct commitment and strategic vision of Italy for Movies , represents a fundamental step towards the consolidation of Italy as a reference cinematographic destination at an international level. Through continuous monitoring activities, advanced research and a systematic mapping of Italian sets through the “ On Set” section, Italy for Movies confirms itself today as an essential tool for orienting audiovisual development policies linked to the territories. For this first edition , the award is given to Enzo Sisti , producer of the international Netflix series Ripley , filmed in some of the most iconic Italian locations. The series represents a virtuous model of production capable of combining the highest artistic quality and valorization of the landscape, architecture and national cultural heritage, strengthening the role of Italy in the global audiovisual scenario. “Our country remains a privileged destination for international productions, which find here a great variety of scenarios and settings, professionalism capable of managing top-level projects and a favorable system of incentives and tax credits promoted by the Ministry of Culture”, declared the Director General of Cinema and Audiovisual Nicola Borrelli . “In its 8 years of activity, Italy for Movies has contributed significantly to the growth of awareness that Italy as a whole is an ideal destination for anyone who wants to film in our territory, both as an operator and as a tourist”. “With the establishment of the Italy for Movies Award – declared Michelangelo Messina , Artistic Director of the Ischia Film Festival – we celebrate the Italian productive intelligence and the strategic importance of a platform, such as Italy for Movies, which today is fundamental to orient the development of the entire national audiovisual sector. The awards ceremony will take place during the closing evening of the Ischia Film Festival on Saturday 5 June, in the unique and symbolic setting of the Aragonese Castle , further evidence of the Festival's commitment to promoting a constant and profound dialogue between cinema and territories.<
The twenty-third edition of the Ischia Film Festival will take place from June 28th to July 5th at the Aragonese Castle of Ischia, directed by Michelangelo Messina and supported by: MiC – General Directorate of Cinema and Audiovisual, Campania Region – Film Commission Campania Region, Bonacina, BperBanca, Treccanin Esperienze, ViVeTech.
