Capalbio Libri, the 19th edition of the Festival on the Pleasure of Reading: an appointment with Alessandra Arachi and Stefano Feltri.

A grand evening yesterday in Piazza dei Pini: following a panel discussion on the state of the Italian economy, there was a playful space of music and dance that saw the audience participate alongside the protagonists on stage, the Trillanti Trio and the Compagnia Teatro del Mediterraneo . At the heart of the festival, a double evening reflected on major and diverse themes: mental health, technocapitalism, and democracy. Two established Italian journalists enlivened the evening.
Thursday the 31st at 7:30 pm begins with Alessandra Arachi and her book Lunatica. Story of a Bipolar Mind (Solferino). With Gabriele Sani , Conductor and Maria Latella . Readings by Marialetizia Cannas . The author, a journalist, recounts months spent escaping reality, stalked by "the most dangerous secret service in the world," traveling at night along Italy's highways, sometimes the wrong way. She recounts her altered consciousness, the miracle of Pisolo the dog, and the rediscovery of love. Lunatica is an adventure of the mind, written with the irony and clarity of someone who was fortunate enough to escape it and be able to tell the story.

Stefano Feltri, The Enemy. Elon Musk and the Assault on Technocapitalism and Democracy – UTET. With Carlo Bastasin . Hosted by Carlo Alberto Pratesi . Readings by Marialetizia Cannas .
Elon Musk , a towering figure. Is it possible to have a clear vision of who he is, beyond his global fame? Stefano Feltri has found the key to understanding what ties together the utopia of space travel and real or imagined Nazi salutes, or the California of Silicon Valley and apartheid South Africa. There is a fundamental question that Musk raises for contemporary society: the existential threat that technocapitalism poses to democracy.
A capitalism that uses the platforms we all use to communicate as weapons of propaganda and political struggle, refuses to submit to public control, believes that technological freedom is far more important than that of citizens—and accelerates the race toward a future, made of artificial intelligence, digital surveillance, and brain chips, that increasingly resembles a past we don't want to return to. Musk is currently the most exposed and visible tech entrepreneur—but the "enemy" Feltri speaks of is far more dangerous than a single individual, however powerful. What happens to Musk and his businesses is, in fact, less important than what happens to democracy, which we still enjoy in the West and which is today threatened not only by external factors but also by the ideas and strategies of technocapitalism.
