Brindisi - Giorgio Vicentini's poetic horizon takes shape at the Fulgor in Carovigno - - Varese News

A horizon that can't be bought or sold, but only contemplated. This is the idea behind "Orizzonte," the site-specific installation that Varese-born artist Giorgio Vicentini created in Carovigno , a small town in the province of Brindisi, at the invitation of Pierangelo Oliva, in the spaces of the 17th-century Fulgor cinema on Corso Vittorio Emanuele.
Vicentini describes himself as "madly in love with the horizon" and wanted to create a work that conveys the wonder of this natural and metaphysical boundary. The installation consists of horizontally painted transparencies and an enigmatic gaze that watches over the scene.
Sitting on 1950s cinema chairs, still present in the Fulgor room, visitors can observe the work as if it were a film: " I drew a horizon with other very small signs next to it," explains Vicentini, "creating something powerful and delicate at the same time."
The technique used involves polyfoil on acrylic, with surfaces that alternate between glossy and matte. A play of contrasts that becomes metaphor: "The unveiling of an invented horizon also carries with it a strong irony, because the horizon cannot be bought or sold, but only admired." Beneath the work, two eyes observe and express the "modesty" of man, capable of seeing only so far, without ever truly grasping the infinite.
The exhibition will remain open until September 15th and was created with the support of the Picci Bar in Carovigno, offering visitors the opportunity to lose themselves in silent contemplation, between art and nature.
