Passion and talent, rigor and seriousness, in compliance with a profession that, by reporting reality without constraints, constitutes one of the cornerstones of democracy: these have always been the values ​​that inspire the “Biagio Agnes Award – International Award for Journalism, Information and Communication”, whose XVII edition will take place on Friday 20 June for the first time in the magnificent and iconic setting of Piazza di Spagna in Rome.

On the prestigious stage, as is now tradition, the beloved Rai presenters Mara Venier and Alberto Matano will present the awards ceremony: the event, broadcast on Tuesday 1 July in the late evening on Rai 1 , will feature representatives of the institutions and great professionals of information, entertainment and culture. An opportunity to delve into the great themes of current affairs but also entertainment with great guests.

The jury, chaired by Gianni Letta , designated the winners by identifying the best professionals who have been able to decipher and disseminate the complexity of small and large stories, telling the story of Italy and the world using the most diverse languages ​​effectively and punctually, from the printed press to TV, from new languages ​​to radio and literature. In the 2025 edition, the Carta Stampata Award will be assigned to Fiorenza Sarzanini , deputy director of Corriere della Sera with a past at the daily newspaper Il Messaggero , for her clear-sighted gaze, balance and commitment to the truth demonstrated in following the main judicial cases of recent years up to the investigations into politicians and corruption. A profound expert on Italian customs and history, author of successful essays and novels, host of the historical analysis programme “Una giornata particolari” on La7, Aldo Cazzullo – special correspondent and editorialist for Corriere della Sera – wins the Cultural Disclosure Award . The Television Award goes to Carlo Conti , the iconic face of Rai, host and author of many highly successful programs on the flagship network and artistic director of the Sanremo Festival, which this year received record ratings. Host at Rai since 1985, he has won the hearts of the public with his extraordinary professionalism and thanks to his sober and spontaneous style. The program “ Belve “, hosted on Rai2 by Francesca Fagnani , wins the Award for Program of the Year . The journalist, who with her brilliant and direct style has also intercepted the youngest audiences, compares herself with big names in entertainment, politics, customs and news, willing to put themselves on the line, creating interviews “without filters”, many of which have gone viral on social media. “The Count of Monte Cristo” , the Rai1 miniseries based on the masterpiece by Alexandre Dumas, which was a ratings triumph, wins the Fiction Award : directed by Oscar winner Bille August and starring, among others, Lino Guanciale, Gabriella Pession and Nicolas Maupas, the four-episode Franco-Italian series enthralled viewers with a story full of twists and turns and intrigue, between love and hate, forgiveness and revenge, hope and desperation. RaiNews24 political journalist Alberto Puoti is awarded the Special Prize for his commitment and professionalism demonstrated as an author of formats based on data journalism and the new frontiers of the web. Italia Oggi journalist Alessandra Ricciardi , specialized in the analysis of domestic and international politics through economic and financial investigation, receives the Economic Journalist Award , while the Jubilee Award is awarded to the Vaticanist of the Mediaset Group and Il Giornale Fabio Marchese Ragona . In March 2024, she wrote with Pope Francis the first autobiography of the Pontiff Life – my story in history , published simultaneously in 21 countries around the world. The Digital Generation – Podcast Award goes to Corriere.it Deputy Editor-in-Chief Martina Pennisi for her commitment and expertise in digital journalism, particularly on the topics of Artificial Intelligence, privacy, fake news, social media and young people. Finally, Roberto Garofoli and Bernardo Giorgio Mattarella were awarded the Essayist Writer Prize for their essay Governing Frailties , which highlights the importance of being able to count on a strengthened government system and an increasingly efficient administrative machine. The award ceremony will take place in Rome in Piazza di Spagna, in the presence of the mayor Roberto Gualtieri and the Councilor for Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion Alessandro Onorato.
