"Girgenti in Ten Effigies" at the fourth meeting of the "Press Club"
The fourth meeting of the "Press Club" of the Agrigento section of Assostampa Sicilia, in collaboration with the Diocesan Museum of Agrigento and the diocesan weekly L'Amico del Popolo, will take place. On Thursday, August 21st, at 7:00 PM, in the garden of the Diocesan Museum at Via Duomo 96, Agrigento, the book "Girgenti in Ten Effigies" by Adalgisa Biondi will be presented. The book, as the author herself explains, is not a city guide, nor a journey of the soul. It is a "journey" to better understand what is sometimes handled superficially, between memories and new discoveries, between beauty and ugliness, between the serious and the facto.
A journey to her hometown, Agrigento, where Biondi shed her citizenship, seeking to see it through the unspoiled eyes of tourists visiting a place for the first time. Knowledge creates preconceptions within us, takes away the sense of discovery, and the resulting prejudice becomes a burdensome burden to carry with us, convinced that the best is always elsewhere. The "Circolo della Stampa" (Press Club) is a cultural project launched by the Sicilian Press Association to foster debate and discussion between journalists and society, with a view to mutual enrichment.
Each event brings together members of the Agrigento chapter of the United Journalists' Union (SJS) in dialogue with writers, poets, and actors, in a constructive exchange to explore social and local issues.
