"Contemporary Naples 2023-2025": the Electa volume describes the city as a widespread museum of public art.

Electa has published " Napoli contemporanea 2023 – 2025," a publishing project that explores the city of Naples's commitment to contemporary art. The volume reflects the ambitious project dedicated to contemporary art launched by the city of Naples in 2023 and continuing in 2024 and 2025—initiated by Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, and curated by Vincenzo Trione, also the volume's editor—with the aim of strengthening the city's commitment to contemporary art through a series of initiatives specifically designed for public spaces and museums. The projects, promoted in collaboration with the city's institutions, such as the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples and the Conservatory of San Pietro a Majella, are designed by internationally renowned artists and engage with the historical identity of the sites, thus fueling a process of urban redevelopment rooted in creativity. Rampe del Salvatore, Vicolo San Pietro a Majella, Port'Alba, Piazza Municipio, Castel Nuovo, Rotonda Diaz, Piazza Mercato. Antonio Marras, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Francesco Vezzoli, Marinella Senatore, Gaetano Pesce, Mimmo Jodice, Marcello Jori, and Jaume Plensa. These are the places and protagonists of contemporary Naples , a project in progress whose philosophy is based on several specific intentions. To combine a movement-based phase with a more "institutional" one. First of all, to go beyond the protective walls of museums and galleries. To initiate fruitful dialogues with communities. To deliver works of art for all to enjoy without paying a ticket to public debate. To conceive installations that assign a new centrality to color and announce the rediscovery of decoration, conceived as visual stumbles located in different places in Naples , an extraordinary ubiquitous, democratic museum, open to continuous change. And again: to restore, recover, and enhance historic places, proposing ambitious exhibition programs, worthy of a European metropolis. Therefore, to take care of parts of the city through the improper weapons of art. The volume recalls the format of the almanac. Enriched with historical and theoretical texts, literary stories, poems, and photographic reportages, this book—which also features contributions from authors such as Stefano Bartezzaghi, Valerio Magrelli, Giuseppe Montesano, and Massimiliano Virgilio—aspires to bear witness to a period that, in keeping with an important tradition, made Naples a capital of contemporary art. Its pages reveal the intertwining of history and modernity, classical languages and innovative alphabets, which pervade the entire project. Almanacco / Napoli contemporanea 2023-2025 is a publishing project promoted by the City of Naples as part of the Napoli contemporanea program and funded by the Campania Region with POC (Complementary Operational Program) funds.
