Beaujolais: harvests marked by precocity and quality


Beginning on August 23 for Chardonnays and expanding to Gamays this weekend, the 2025 harvest promises to be intense in Beaujolais. While less generous in volume, the harvest should nonetheless yield high-quality wines.
The Beaujolais vineyards have been experiencing their peak season since Saturday: the harvest began with the Chardonnays and is now spreading to the Gamays in the earliest-ripening areas. More than 20,000 harvesters are expected for nearly a month, with the harvest remaining largely manual.

After a cool winter and a spring that contrasted with heat, heavy rain, and hailstorms, the scorching summer accelerated the ripening of the grapes. The cycle is reminiscent of 2015, a vintage remembered for its depth and finesse, Inter Beaujolais explained in a press release.
The 2025 harvest will be reduced in quantity, but the conditions present give hope for balanced, intense and characterful wines, something to delight winegrowers and enthusiasts.
