In France, 13 million people are affected by a mental health disorder each year, and 3 million people live with severe mental health disorders. While there has been more discussion on this subject in recent years, driven by celebrities who have spoken about their mental health , the taboo remains strong and stereotypes are numerous.
In 2025, the government made mental health a major national cause, but the resources implemented were not always up to scratch.
