Doctors with foreign diplomas mobilized again

Demonstration in front of the Ministry of Health, legal action… The unions and associations of practitioners qualified outside the European Union – the “ Padhue ” , according to the acronym in force – are speaking out again. To the point of collectively calling on the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, in a letter sent on Thursday, February 20. These are the results of the 2024 knowledge verification tests (EVC), constituting the sesame to obtain a permanent authorization to practice, published on January 31, who have rekindled the fuse. A key step in the procedures that these doctors with foreign diplomas, practicing under various statuses in French hospitals, must follow, which the Head of State had undertaken to "regularize" in January 2024. The weariness is such that some of their representatives are now threatening to start a hunger strike if the situation remains blocked.

In 2024, 4,000 positions were opened – 1,300 more than the previous year – and more than 3,800 positions were allocated (3,235 for candidates on the main list, 638 moving up the supplementary lists). This represents a “50% increase” , the Ministry of Health stressed in a press release on February 5, assuring that it supports these practitioners who come “to reinforce our healthcare system” . However, the anger does not subside.
