Dijon: The Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Regional Health Agency becomes an ambassador for organ donation

This Friday, June 20, a symbolic plaque was unveiled in Dijon at the Regional Health Agency. This was a way to formalize the ARS's commitment as an ambassador for organ and tissue donation.

A symbolic plaque was unveiled Friday at the ARS of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, symbolizing its status as an ambassador for organ donation. "Organ donation, to take action, you have to talk about it. Today, giving is the most beautiful act there is," emphasized Jean-Jacques Coiplet, its general director, with a smile. However, the organ donation refusal rate in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté was 33% in 2024. "We're talking about saving lives," reminded Jean-Jacques Coiplet.

At the same time, three major objectives were announced during this inauguration. First, the importance of collective governance and quarterly reporting of results, and finally, the strengthening of transplant activity for all types of donors, thus reducing opposition rates.

The ARS's mission is to prioritize raising awareness about organ donation. "Supporting hospitals that manage this process. Poster campaigns, social media outreach. We need to raise awareness all year round," said Marine Jeantet, Director General of the Biomedicine Agency. "We need everything, not just organs but also tissues," she added. "It sometimes gives meaning to sudden deaths. If it can allow people to prolong their lives elsewhere, it's a symbol of our humanity."
