The village of Monpazier can be seen by torchlight

During the months of July and August, the Bastide Tourist Office offers nighttime torchlit tours. These tours take place every Monday evening at 9:30 p.m.
R ated one of the most beautiful villages in France, Monpazier, a jewel of medieval architecture, is a model of a fortified town. It is also considered a "theorized model of fortified towns" according to the architect Viollet-le-Duc.
An exceptional heritageIn addition, countless distinctions have been awarded to Monpazier to recognize and protect the exceptional heritage of this fortified town founded in 1284 by Edward I of England. As such, in 1991, the fortified town of Monpazier was elevated to the rank of Grand National Site, along with Biron and Capdrot, thus preserving and showcasing this unique architectural and urban heritage.
This summer, every Monday from July 15th to August 19th, guided tours of the fortified town of Monpazier by torchlight are organized by the Bastide Tourist Office. They invite you to wander along its narrow streets and stroll under the arcades. And what better way to do it than after dark?
Torchlight tour, every Monday. Meet at Place des Cornières, at 9:30 p.m. Prices: 7 euros for adults (one torch per family), free for children under 8. Additional torch: 2 euros.
