The ephemeris of June 24: in 1943, the birth of Jean-Louis Foulquier

On June 24, 1943, radio host, producer and actor Jean-Louis Foulquier was born in La Rochelle.
Jean-Louis Foulquier began his professional career as a radio host at France Inter in 1966. Until 2008, he hosted numerous programs, including "Pollen," one of the most famous, where he invited singers and musicians. During this period, he also worked as a television host, with André Blanc's show "Découvertes TF1," where he highlighted new figures in French song.
Passionate about music, it was in 1985 that Jean-Louis Foulquier founded the famous French-language music festival in La Rochelle: Les Francofolies, which today attracts more than 150,000 festival-goers. His most vivid memories of this festival are “the friends who helped launch the festival, Lavilliers, Renaud, Higelin, Souchon and Thiéfaine. And then, of course, the greats, like Léo Ferré in 1987, my spiritual father, and Barbara, who usually never sang outdoors. Finally, all those who started here, from Rita Mitsouko to Cali, including Patricia Kaas, M and Arthur H, who had no more than 14 paying entries. Let’s not forget some colossal carousing.”
Jean-Louis Foulquier died on December 10, 2013 in Aigrefeuille-d'Aunis (17) from lung cancer and leaves behind the image of a great enthusiast and lover of music.
