Nintendo Breaks the Bank with “Donkey Kong Bananza”

Far from simply mimicking previous installments, Nintendo is offering a brand-new adventure featuring its most famous gorilla yet. "Donkey Kong Bananza," released on July 17th for Switch 2, was warmly received by the English-speaking press. They happily let off steam by destroying the scenery, one of the game's key mechanics.
This venerable primate saw Mario's birth in 1981, two years before the plumber got his first dedicated game. This July 17, Donkey Kong (DK) is back in action, in a new game bearing his name: Donkey Kong Bananza, released on Switch 2. And the adventure has excited, to say the least, The Washington Post, which calls it “one of Nintendo's best works of recent years.”
Gene Park, the newspaper's video game critic, is delighted to see the Japanese giant implement its miracle recipe, which consists of finding a strong, simple (on the surface), and terribly effective idea for each new title. Here, it's "a technical and visual marvel that allows you to interact with the game differently. The player can destroy the terrain at will: hitting the ground, walls, and cliffs produces a firework of debris."
As for the plot, the register is just as joyfully surreal. Our ape-like hero is on the hunt for precious stones—shaped like bananas, naturally.
