Police have not yet determined whether the incident was accidental or intentional.
By PMA man was arrested on Monday after driving his car through the gate of a house that, according to online records, belongs to "Friends" star Jennifer Aniston , several US media outlets report.
According to Officer Jeff Lee, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), police responded to a call about a " burglary suspect" at the property who "drove his vehicle through the gate of the residence." The incident occurred on Monday, May 5, around 12:20 p.m. local time in Bel Air, an affluent neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Jeff Lee told CNN that the star's home security team was at the scene and that a man "held down the suspect," described as a white male in his 70s, until LAPD officers arrived. TMZ reports that the driver, who was held at gunpoint, had to be checked by paramedics after the crash because he was complaining of pain. No details about the nature of his injuries have been released.
The suspect was later taken into custody, and police have not yet determined whether the incident was accidental or intentional. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities are looking into the suspect's background and criminal record. LAPD Officer David Cuellar later told CNN that the homeowner "was home at the time of the incident" but was not injured.
Following the incident, local media outlet KTLA reported extensive damage to the residence's front gate, with the retractable arm broken. Sky 5, meanwhile, showed footage of the gate manually opening and closing.
