Comedian and humorist Manu Payet is back on his native island of Reunion. A return to his roots before continuing his tour with the show "Emmanuel 2." It's an opportunity to remember what inspired him to make people laugh and take to the stage.

Getting up early to catch the first rays of the sun on the Piton de la Fournaise volcano. Comedian Manu Payet did this all his childhood with his family. " It's a landmark, it's a sanctuary, it's a moment of humility ," he confides. It was by drawing on his memories that he won over the public, 20 years ago. Manu Payet has only his voice to tell his story, on stage, he is without artifice. He delivers in complete intimacy, an influence of American stand-up. " I think you have to be a bit of a fool, like a dog, he's going to go for it, he doesn't care, he goes for it, " he laughs to put stage fright into perspective. Family, fatherhood, age, the comedian transforms all of life's difficulties into funny stories.

Returning to Réunion Island means reconnecting with his family and all the flavors of his childhood. He loves the beach atmosphere, the Creole picnic over a wood fire, under his mother's watchful eye. " Creole cuisine has four influences: Europe, Africa, India, and Asia ," he explains. " He was born like that, always mocking me; I always saw him like that, " says his mother, Monique Payet. His childhood in Réunion Island also meant a disorganized school life. Back on his island, he returns to his old school to share his experience with the students.
