How I climbed the towers… of Notre-Dame de Paris

On April 15, 2019, firefighters miraculously managed to save the towers of Notre-Dame from the fire. After six years of work , the two prestigious belfries of the Gothic masterpiece are once again open to the public from Saturday, September 20, on the occasion of the European Heritage Days. The Centre des Monuments Nationaux has completely redesigned the visitor route and the scenography of this 424-step climb.
The panorama of the capital is dizzyingFrom now on, the public first climbs the south tower by a stone staircase. Then, after a stop in a room where models of the building and two 19th-century chimeras saved from the flames are installed, visitors climb through the roof structure by a monumental double-spiral wooden staircase. This exceptional work of art, the largest of its type in the world, leads to the terrace and allows visitors to admire the two imposing bell towers.

At 69 meters high, the panorama of the capital is dizzying. Breathtaking view of the spire of Viollet-le-Duc and the restored statues of the apostles.
