Gourmet break by the water in Saint-Estèphe

On the edge of the Saint-Estèphe pond, under the trees, a terrace and a few cabins stretch out facing the water. This is the Paillote du Grand Étang. On the menu: burgers, fries, paninis. "It's in the style of a beach hut," explains Coralie, now the hut's manager. She has worked there for five years now. "I started here as a waitress," Coralie says happily.
“The only shop in the area”The first hut is dedicated to savory items, and the other to sweet items, with desserts and ice cream. "Here, it's kind of the only shop in the area," says the manager. So, in addition to food, the guinguette has diversified a bit by offering a few beach essentials. Among other things, there are a few tubes of sunscreen, floats, and even a few beach toys. "We have a lot of foreign customers who don't necessarily come with their bucket and rake."
Eat in or take awayBetween the dining room and the kitchens, ten people work in the guinguette during the season. For service, the team gives customers the choice: "it's either eat in or take away." For those who prefer, it's possible to take away their meal and enjoy it with their feet in the water. "It's always nice to be able to have a coffee or an ice cream between two dives," says Mathilde, who is waiting on the guinguette's terrace.
