Comedian André Dussollier joins RTL at the start of the school year

Comedian André Dussollier joins RTL at the start of the school year

The 79-year-old actor will launch into a story every evening, "in the fields of sport, society and culture," according to the daily.

At 8:30 p.m., journalist Isabelle Choquet will "take over" for an interview related to this story, the newspaper specifies.

This new program will occupy the slot previously reserved for Faustine Bollaert's "Heroes" program, with the presenter presenting a new testimonial session from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Having won three César Awards, including Best Actor in 1998 for Alain Resnais' "On connu la chanson," and a Molière, André Dussollier is now going to try his hand at radio hosting.

A medium he "loves a lot," as he explained last year on RTL. "Orson Welles said: 'Radio has this advantage over cinema, that on radio, the screen is wider,'" the actor declared. "We imagine people, we function, we are active when we hear voices or noises. (...) The voice has always been a precious element for me," he added.

The actor, who first came to the attention of the general public in 1985 with Coline Serreau's "Three Men and a Cradle," notably starred in André Targe's 1991 radio play "Lettres d'Aymonville" for Radio France. He also gave readings on France Culture in 2020 during the first lockdown.

André Dussollier joins the list of new recruits at RTL, where journalists Anne-Sophie Lapix, Marc-Olivier Fogiel and Augustin Trapenard are also expected to return in the fall.

RTL is the second most listened to radio station in France with a cumulative audience of 9% in the second quarter, according to the latest Médiamétrie survey.
