Brantôme-en-Périgord: Virginie Segers reveals her “inner landscapes”

Artist Virginie Segers is exhibiting her abstract and emotional works for the first time at the Monks' Refectory, until June 27.
"As far back as I can remember, I've always drawn. I was introduced to painting in Africa thanks to a street painter who painted on plywood with house paint," recalls Virginie Segers.
Back in France, the artist experimented with different techniques. She used tile adhesive on which she placed pigments to create figurative paintings primarily themed around women. "I also painted on watercolor paper and then tore the drawing up and glued it back onto plywood."
But the real turning point in her life came in 2015. "I then launched into abstract painting with acrylics," explains Virginie Segers. "My sources of inspiration come from my emotions. Then, as the painting progresses, it becomes more refined. These are my inner landscapes. My paintings have names in French or foreign languages so that visitors can immerse themselves in the work."
Exhibition of works by Virginie Segers at the monks' refectory of Brantôme Abbey, until June 27, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Contact: 06 83 36 00 22 or [email protected].
