The largest lighthouse in Spain is in Andalusia and can be visited for just 5 euros.

The Cadiz town of Chipiona is undoubtedly one of the most important tourist centers in all of Andalusia. A place that welcomes visitors throughout the year, especially during the summer months , when this enclave, filled with excellent beaches and charming streets, becomes a real hub for activity.
In addition to beautiful beaches and excellent establishments for enjoying excellent culinary specialties, Chipiona also has other interesting attractions that give it personality and uniqueness . One of these is the famous Sanctuary of Regla, which houses the image of the patron saint and gives its name to one of its most famous beaches.
But there is undoubtedly one presence that stands out above all in the municipality, whose slender silhouette can be seen from practically all four points of the compass and from several kilometers away . This is the Chipiona Lighthouse, a structure that Chipiona residents and visitors hold in special affection and that stands out prominently in its area.
The first thing worth noting about this lighthouse is that it's the tallest in all of Spain, standing at a whopping 72 meters above sea level . Its dimensions make it one of the tallest lighthouses in the world, and those brave enough to reach its top, known locally as the lantern, will have to climb a staggering 322 steps.

The lighthouse is located in an area of Chipiona known as "Punta del Perro" (Dog's Point) and has a long history, having been built between 1863 and 1867. The construction was directed by the engineer Jaime Font, and its main function was to indicate the entrance to the Guadalquivir River to sailors. The lighthouse was built with oyster stone, extracted from Chipiona's own quarries, and flagstones from Tarifa.
The lighthouse has therefore been helping sailors for many decades in an area where special care is required, one where ships historically had great difficulty navigating the difficult waters of the mouth of the Guadalquivir River , where there are numerous sandbanks and drastic changes in water depth. Its light has a range of up to 25 miles, and it also has the unique feature of having a vertical beam, making it useful for aircraft navigation.

Throughout the year, the Chipiona Town Hall Tourist Office offers guided tours to this lighthouse, from which you can enjoy a unique panoramic view of the mouth of the Guadalquivir River, the Doñana National Park, as well as areas of the Bay of Cádiz and Sanlúcar de Barrameda .
Tours cost just five euros per person , while children under 7 years old are free. To book a tour and enjoy an unforgettable experience, you can find more information at this link or call 956 929 065.
