Avianca updates its uniforms: 11,000 employees will wear the new look for the airline's 106th anniversary.

Seven years after its last redesign, Avianca announced that it will change the uniforms of its 11,000 employees as part of a revamp of its corporate image by the end of 2025.

"We've had more than seven uniforms in our history. We made the last change seven years ago, and today we're ready to celebrate a transformation that goes beyond aesthetics ," the airline stated at a launch event.
For his part, Avianca CEO Frederico Pedreira emphasized that this change accompanies a period of growth and consolidation for the airline, which currently operates more than 160 routes.
" This year alone, we've invested more than $800 million in aircraft, new products, and service improvements. The new uniform represents all of that, but it also represents so much more," he said.
For the executive, this renewal symbolizes the airline's spirit under the motto "the sky belongs to everyone" and reflects the roadmap they have outlined to remain competitive in a constantly evolving industry. It also reaffirms their commitment to the more than 100,000 passengers they carry daily.
“Now, with this new uniform, more than 11,000 people—80 percent of our workforce— will dress every day with pride in belonging to this company ,” Pedreira concluded. These individuals are part of six key areas within Avianca, including pilots, cabin crew, maintenance personnel, ground service , customer service, and operations.

The company emphasizes that the change is not merely visual, although design plays an important role :
"This isn't just a cosmetic issue, although it is, and you'll see that it's truly beautiful. What we're presenting will captivate not only with its design, but also with its meaning. It goes much further: each uniform will come to life, will be filled with emotion, when each of our employees wears it," Avianca stated.
One of the new features of this collection is that the ground operations team will be provided with distinctive garments, highlighted by a distinctive red color.
Juanjo Oliva, the designer in charge of the new garments, explained the purpose of this new venture. "It was a hard work in which we created a proposal that combines safety—a priority at Avianca—with a new aesthetic. We were inspired by the blue of the sky, part of the airline's slogan, and by red, which has always been its distinctive color. From these elements, we designed a contemporary silhouette that integrates the masculine and feminine, provides comfort, and projects modernity," explained Oliva.
He added: "Our goal was to move away from the rigid idea of 'uniform clothing.' We wanted a more relatable approach, one that felt like part of each person's wardrobe and that represented the brand's identity without nullifying the individuality of those who wear it."
When will this new clothing be deployed? The plan is for the new uniforms to begin being used later this year, coinciding with Avianca's 106th anniversary celebration, Pedreira explained.
" Nearly 300,000 units will be produced, which represents a significant logistical challenge in manufacturing and distribution. We want everyone to start using them at the same time, in Colombia and around the world," the executive explained.
Regarding the selection of Juanjo Oliva as the designer in charge of the new uniforms, Avianca's CEO stated: "It was a long project, almost two years long. We took the time to understand what was most important to our people, because they are the ones who will wear the uniform every day. We also wanted it to reflect the current situation we are experiencing as a company. Today we are happy to finally be able to present it ."
