Two tech giants are focusing on digitalization and CO2 emission reduction in Poland

Currently, Ericsson base stations constitute almost 50% of the Play network's radio infrastructure – nearly 6,000 stations. This collaboration will not only increase network coverage and capacity but also address challenges in cybersecurity, system resilience, and sustainable development.
Play and Ericsson have begun and will continue testing 5G Standalone networks in Białystok. 5G SA is a solution designed for local governments and businesses looking to develop smart city concepts or private campus networks.
Energy-saving solutions and CO2 emission reductionAdditionally, the companies will continue joint activities at Ericsson's research and development centers in Łódź and Kraków regarding frequency efficiency and energy-saving solutions.
Ericsson's experience shows that 5G can be a catalyst for reducing CO2 emissions by leveraging connectivity to increase productivity and operational efficiency across industries and public services.

The number of active mobile customers in the Play group at the end of the first half of the year was over 13.4 million, an increase of 125,000 year-on-year (0.9%). Of this group, 9.7 million (72%) were subscription customers.
The group's total revenue in the first half of the year increased by 2.6% year-on-year to over PLN 5.1 billion.
EBITDAaL (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization) in the first half of the year increased by 11.3% year-on-year, reaching almost PLN 2.3 billion.
