López-Gatell's position at the WHO divides the Senate

Hugo López-Gatell , recently appointed Mexico's representative to the World Health Organization ( WHO ), was the bone of contention in the Senate session.
Morena and its allies prevented the Senate from observing a minute of silence in memory of those who died in Mexico due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as requested by the PAN party.
The proposal was presented by PAN Senator Mario Humberto Vázquez Robles, who called for a tribute to those who died during the health emergency and also held López-Gatell responsible for the management of the crisis.
The president of the Senate's Board of Directors, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, submitted the request to a vote, but clarified that he would not allow the plenary session to be used to politicize the issue or to criticize the former Undersecretary of Health.
