Doctors do not give up and call for a new strike on October 10.

The Spanish Confederation of Medical Unions ( CESM ) and the Andalusian Medical Union ( SMA ) announced Tuesday that Spanish doctors will resume their strike on October 10 , and they do not rule out further strikes in the future. This action will be accompanied by other protests, such as demonstrations in front of the Ministry of Health.

The date chosen was after the summer, as they don't want to interfere with vacations or the operation of the health centers themselves, since, according to reports, staffing levels are reduced by a third each month during the summer season. "We don't want to add fuel to the fire," explained Víctor Pedrera , secretary general of CESM.

"We won't stop the protests until we have our own statute . It's going to be a difficult road, but we won't cease our actions," stated Rafael Ojeda , head of the SMA. They have described the rejection of the draft proposed by the department headed by Mónica García as "global" and would not be satisfied with a separate chapter: "It's our main demand; we need our own because we want to have our own interlocutors with the Administration," added Pedrera.

The day of strikes was announced at a joint press conference, which aimed to assess the Spanish doctors' strike last Friday. " It has been tremendously satisfactory , with spectacular and magnificent support, even in areas where the unions there have not supported the strike," Pedrera summarized.
