Horror is one of the most celebrated film genres in the discipline . It can't be understood without some of the most memorable classics in the history of the medium , with 1922's Nosferatu being one of the most notable. Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau's work laid several foundations for the medium on the big screen that can still be seen today in the most recent horror films.
For this reason, and given the high production of remakes of classic feature films, the story of the iconic vampire couldn't be missed. It was in 2024 when it hit theaters thanks to director Robert Eggers , author of great recent horror works, such as The Witch , The Man from the North , and The Lighthouse. And soon we'll be able to enjoy it from the comfort of our homes thanks to SkyShowtime.

Since childhood, Eggers had been fascinated by the original 1920s play , particularly the performances of its actors. One hundred and two years after its release, the filmmaker has managed to create his own version , with actors such as Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp, and Nicholas Hoult in the main cast.
Worthy remakeAlthough it enjoys great popularity today, Nosferatu didn't garner much praise during its initial screenings on the big screen. Much of this was due to the criticism and censorship instigated by the wife of the late Bram Stoker . However, over time, it managed to become one of the leading representatives of the German Expressionist cinematic movement.

Eggers' version isn't the first remake of the original. In 1979, Werner Herzog made Nosferatu: The Vampire of the Night. However, in his latest installment, the American director carried out an in-depth study of the character and the folklore surrounding him , elevating the figure of the vampire as an irreplaceable icon of horror cinema. His work led to the film receiving four nominations at the recent Oscars .
Robert Eggers' Nosferatu will be available on SkyShowtime starting August 4. The plot revolves around Hutter's right-hand man, who must finalize a deal with a sinister count residing in a castle in the Carpathian Mountains. From this point on, the count reveals himself to be a creature more terrifying than one might imagine.
