Dan Brown returns with a new Robert Langdon story: legends, science, and magic in Prague.

Dan Brown returns with a new Robert Langdon story: legends, science, and magic in Prague.

Prague is magical. Walking through it is a constant journey through history, from the Middle Ages to the contemporary era, from the famous castle to Kafka's portrait. And beyond Charles Bridge and the Powder Tower, there are hidden corners that dazzle visitors who come to the bohemian city each year. Robert Langdon is one of Prague's most beloved writers , and through the prose of Dan Brown , he returns to bookstores around the world with "The Last Secret," a new adventure set in the magical city.

Dan Brown embarks the famous Professor Langdon on a story that will be resolved thanks to his eidetic memory, his knowledge of symbology, and the undeniable help of Katherine Solomon ; although, as is to be expected in one of the American writer's novels, nothing is as easy as it seems. Reality intertwines with legends, magic, and science , a duel that could end reality as we know it.

The capital of the Czech Republic welcomes Brown to present this novel, which continues the saga that began with "Angels and Demons." The sixth installment went on sale on September 10th with a print run of 500,000 copies in Spain and Latin America and has been translated into 56 languages. Planeta is one of the more than 20 publishers that have distributed the book worldwide. Despite the wait, the book has been very well protected: the author confirmed that his computer "was not connected to the internet" to prevent possible hacking.

For the international premiere, the American will visit the Mirror Chapel , a beautiful temple located within the Clementinum complex, a haven for the great expectation generated after eight years of waiting. A piece with the organ present and the Mayor of Prague presenting the keys to the city kicks off the concert.

'The Last Secret' is a reflection of the sciences that are questioning human knowledge of their own consciousness. Brown himself has reconsidered his entire conception of the environment in which we live since his mother died of leukemia: "I asked myself what was after death; this couldn't be like unplugging a computer." And it is precisely this knowledge of what exists when we are no longer on Earth that has motivated religions and science; "two different ways of telling the same story , " reflects the author of 'The Da Vinci Code,' who also asserts that in this latest story, science has more weight and importance.

This saga follows Langdon, a symbology professor, but not a scientist. Brown needed to turn to a character who already existed in his fictional world: Katherine Solomon. In this noetic intellectual, the American scribe has found the connecting thread for his story; Solomon provides the scientific data, and Langdon serves as an excuse to explain it in language more appropriate for the average person. One of the writer's own fears was that everything would be clearly understood, that nothing would be out of place, and he acknowledges the work of his editor, Jason Kaufman, who, in addition to being his partner for the past 25 years, also appears in his new novel.

Solomon's work in Dan Brown's world is to publicize his work on nonlocal consciousness , which explains that all humans are connected and that our brains only collect knowledge from a collective consciousness. It's a very scientific paradigm far removed from current beliefs, and Brown has enlisted the help of specialists to understand and, subsequently, be able to write this book. A task that has taken him eight years of research and reflecting all this acquired knowledge in his texts; he also confirms that he is "optimistic about cultural change, about studies; not everything is in the material world." There are many experiments cited in 'The Last Secret', and Brown gives many reasons for believing in these new assumptions.

Brown's last novel, 'Inception,' was published in 2017, and since then, he's been convinced that his next story would have to be set in Prague. The city's magic goes beyond the fantasy created by the American; legends like that of the Golem who protected the Jews attacked in the city's former ghetto are key in this new adventure of Professor Langdon. After almost a decade of waiting, the writer was afraid his readers would get tired of waiting, but he trusted that it would be worth it: "I feel very gratified that the book is coming out and that so many people loved and enjoyed it." An effort that doesn't come as a gift but rather is the perseverance of working every day of the week, getting up at 4 in the morning and writing until 11 or 12; Brown says he's realized that it's very difficult to push again when you stop, so I keep pushing, even if I have a busy day."

A saga to remember and its adaptations

'Angels & Demons' was published in 2000, beginning a saga that would catapult Dan Brown to global stardom. His popularity would come three years later, following the release of ' The Da Vinci Code ,' the writer's greatest success. 'Inferno,' 'The Lost Symbol,' and 'Inception' continued this series, starring the professor, and would cement Brown's name in literary history.

But the success wasn't just literary. Adaptations like those led by actor Tom Hanks were the impetus the world needed to make Brown's stories known to everyone. This new installment will also be available in an audiovisual format, but this time it will be a series for Netflix . The writer confirms having read the scripts for the first three chapters and says he is "happy and excited."
