Wedding on a historic fortress with sea views: Paula and Timo Werner celebrated in Mallorca in such an atmospheric setting

Wedding at a historic fortress: Paula and Timo Werner, footballers at RB Leipzig, celebrated in a very special location in Mallorca.
Sea views. This was especially important to Paula and Timo Werner when searching for the perfect location for their wedding in Mallorca . This wish came true with the "Fortalesa d'Albercuix," a historic 17th-century fortress located on a peninsula off Port de Pollença.
Wedding in Mallorca: The bride and groom celebrated in style in a restored fortressIt was clear to the couple from the start that the celebrations would take place in Mallorca , as they have found their second home on the popular Balearic island – alongside their hometown of London , where Paula Werner studies interior design. "We spent our first family vacations together in Mallorca and have returned to the island again and again ever since," the bride told VOGUE shortly after the wedding. "Four years ago, we decided to buy our own house. It was always clear to us that our wedding would take place in Mallorca because we simply love the island."
The couple met over eight years ago through Paula Werner's father, who worked as a sports psychologist at RB Leipzig, the club where footballer Timo Werner has been under contract since 2016 (with a brief stint in England). "His first message to me was, 'Please don't tell your father,'" the bride says with a laugh. So, their relationship was initially kept secret for a while.
The proposal came as a surprise to Paula Werner: After a meal together at one of the couple's favorite restaurants, Timo Werner quickly rushed home to prepare everything for the special moment with friends. "Paula wasn't thrilled at first that I left so hastily without really saying goodbye," he says with a laugh. The annoyance didn't last long, however, because upon arriving home, the bride-to-be found everything already decorated with flowers and candles.
So the couple turned their wedding into a short vacationThe couple planned their wedding like a mini-vacation. The day before the ceremony, they hosted a welcome drink with the guests so everyone could get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere before the big day. "Although we had the venue for the entire weekend, we deliberately decided to hold our get-together outside to save the wow factor for the wedding day," says Paula Werner. "Instead, we met at one of our favorite restaurants in Mallorca, 'Katagi Blau.' They have a great rooftop terrace, we were able to enjoy the sunset together, and it was a completely different atmosphere than at the historic fortress."
