1 minPopping a pimple is a liberating feeling for many people. But a case involving a mother from Michigan shows that this can quickly become dangerous.
Popping a pimple damages the skin, creating small wounds that are more likely to become infected. But a mother from Michigan recently learned firsthand that this can be a serious threat. She popped a pimple in the so-called "triangle of death" – the area of her face that runs in a triangular shape from the corners of her mouth, across her nose, and between her eyes.

33-year-old Lish Marie from Michigan, Michigan, also learned that squeezing a pimple doesn't always bring relief. The mother of three only wanted to remove a small blemish under her nose, but within a few hours, the left side of her face swelled severely. Lish Marie decided to go to a hospital emergency room. There, she learned that the area where she had squeezed the pimple had become severely inflamed. She was subsequently prescribed four different medications. It took a full three days for the swelling to subside. A shocking experience, one that the mother is now warning about on her TikTok account.
Popping pimples in the area of the triangle of death can quickly become dangerous, as the blood vessels in this area are connected to the brain via veins. Bacteria that colonize the exposed skin can easily be transported to the brain. If this happens, there is a risk of meningitis. A stroke is also possible.
