This bride wore two different dresses for her wedding in Ibiza – which had one special detail in common

Wedding in Ibiza: Emily and Jendrik married in such a minimalist yet elegant way on the Spanish island.
Typical Ibizan island charm, yet clean and minimalist at the same time – Emily Kerner-Sielaff and Jendrik Sielaff wanted to combine these two worlds for their wedding. And so, after their civil wedding in Hamburg , where Emily works in marketing for the trendy jeans label Closed, they now held a church wedding in Ibiza .
The two met in Hamburg, where they both used to play hockey. Things moved relatively quickly, and after they moved into a shared apartment, the proposal followed – a special moment that Emily fondly remembers: "We were on vacation together in Namibia, where he proposed to me on the terrace of the lodge – very intimately."
Wedding in Ibiza: Classic island charm meets minimalist aestheticsFor their church wedding, it was important to the couple to find a place that connected them – and this included not only their hometown of Hamburg but also the Spanish island of Ibiza, where they have spent many holidays together. With the help of wedding planner Katharina Landenberger, they found their dream location: the boutique hotel Ca Na Xica in the north of the island, where not only the bride and groom themselves but also their closest friends and relatives were accommodated.
"What made it so special for us was the mix of modernity and the typical Ibizan charm. While we love the classic local aesthetic, we also wanted to keep it simple and clean. That's why this was the best decision for us," the bride tells VOGUE. The decor, which the couple deliberately kept simple to do justice to the location, was also in keeping with this desired minimalism. A special detail: the curved tables, which added a dynamic element to the seating arrangement, and the white and green floral decorations.
The festivities began the day before the actual wedding. After the first guests arrived, there was a welcome dinner at the Los Enamorados restaurant, overlooking the sea – and the sunset. The dishes served included guacamole and beef tacos. "We love Mexican food and definitely wanted to include it at our wedding," Jendrik explains. The theme for the evening: Ibiza chic. "We didn't want it to go too boho, so we chose this theme, which the guests then interpreted with colorful, floral dresses and colorful suits," the bride explains.
In addition, a small surprise from the bride and groom awaited the guests in the form of goodie bags, which not only contained a personal message for each guest, but also a hand-designed handkerchief that was immediately used as a pocket square.
The wedding motto: "Black Tie and Colorful"The actual wedding ceremony took place in a small Catholic church. This was followed by an aperitif with classic Spanish finger food, before the guests gathered for a poolside reception, where the atmosphere was so good that dancing was already taking place before dinner. The dress code for the evening was "black tie and colorful," and, just as the bride and groom had requested, ensured a great atmosphere and colorful pictures – captured by photographer Katarina Fedora .
Emily wanted her wedding dress to be just as simple as the decor. She searched for it in New York , where she found what she was looking for at the bridal shop Chosen by Kyha. "Although the selection can be overwhelming when you start thinking about your wedding dress, I quickly realized I wanted something very clean—without embroidery or glitter," she says. "Then I discovered my passion for low-waisted dresses and quickly found one that I loved." She also paired the strapless dress with a long, thin shawl, which added a special detail despite its simplicity, and a long, sheer veil for the ceremony.
Elegant minimalismFor the party, she then changed into a short, long-sleeved lace dress with a stand-up collar, which was custom-made in Hamburg. "Being able to choose the fabric and everything for the dress myself was a real girl's dream come true," the bride says with a laugh. As for her beauty look, she had help from hair and makeup artist Michael Mayer. Here, too, the motto was: less is more. "I really like wearing sleek buns, and this was a practical solution, especially for the party—after all, you want to feel good."
Even though the wedding dresses varied greatly in style—off-the-shoulder, long, and minimalist for the ceremony, long-sleeved, short, and lace for the after-party—they all had one thing in common: design elements like stand-up collars and shawls emphasized the neck. A detail the bride also chose for her civil wedding dress—and one that's sure to be one of the absolute wedding dress trends for 2025.
