Around four months after the tragic death of Liam Payne (1993-2024), there is more information about his condition at the time of his death. According to this, the alcohol level in his blood was alarming.
A toxicology report from November had previously found that Payne had "alcohol, cocaine and prescription antidepressants" in his system in the 72 hours before his death. A press release from the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office No. 14 now states in more detail that the One Direction star had "a blood alcohol level of up to 2.7 grams per liter at the time of his death." As "People" magazine reported , this level could cause confusion, dizziness and disorientation.
The singer, who died in mid-October 2024 after falling from a balcony of the CasaSur Palermo hotel in Argentina, also had "cocaine metabolites, methylecgonine, benzoylecgonine, cocaethylene and the drug sertraline" in his body.
Judge drops serious chargesIn January, Payne's cause of death was officially confirmed by an investigation in his home country of Great Britain. The 31-year-old died on October 16 in Argentina from "polytrauma". This means that he suffered several life-threatening injuries. He was buried on November 20 in Amersham, near London.

As part of the investigation, several men were charged with manslaughter. However, charges against a friend and two hotel employees were dropped in February following a hearing at Argentina's National Criminal and Penitentiary Court. Two other hotel employees, accused of selling drugs to Payne, remain in prison. They face up to 14 years in prison.
