Yeast in hand serum: dm recalls Balea product
Due to possible contamination with a yeast fungus, the drugstore chain dm is recalling a hand serum.
According to the information, the affected product is “Balea Hand Serum Hyaluron, 75 ml” with the batch code 58309. This information is printed on the bottom of the bottle.
"We ask you not to use the product and return it to dm stores unopened or already opened," the Karlsruhe-based company said in a statement. The purchase price will be refunded.
During inspections, it was discovered that the product may be contaminated with the yeast Candida parapsilosis. "The risk of health effects is low, but infections are possible in immunocompromised consumers," dm stated.
