Rhineland-Palatinate: New care project for interdisciplinary prevention of malnutrition

Worms. AOK Rhineland-Palatinate/Saarland and Worms Hospital have jointly launched a new quality agreement for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of malnutrition in geriatric patients. The project is initially limited to 30 months, as both partners announced in a press release on Friday.
The project is embedded in the quality improvement program in inpatient care initiated by the Federal Joint Committee. The goal of the new contract is to detect malnutrition in patients earlier and treat it effectively in the hospital.
The basis is a multi-professional treatment path that includes systematic screening, structured assessment, and individualized nutritional therapy, according to the study. Close coordination between medical and nursing staff, nutrition professionals, and health insurance providers is planned. (eb)
