Renowned for its breathtaking scenery, white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters, Sanna Bay has scored a perfect 5 by visitors. Nestled on the Ardnamurchan peninsula in Scotland, the remote beach is a haven for wildlife watching, with butterflies and dragonflies gliding across the bay. In the dune cliffs, coastal birds can be spotted nesting, as otters forage along the shoreline.

While the waters may be chilly, the sparkling turquoise ocean offers a beautiful view, with rock pools scattered along the edges to be explored. One Google reviewer wrote: “Breathtaking, I had the beach to myself too. The single track road for 80 minutes is mesmerising, I recommend this beach highly. Free parking too, a great place to take a dip or chill with a picnic. I felt like I was back in Thailand again. Will be returning.”

The beach is a hotspot for picnics and beach walks, scoring an impressive five out of five stars on Google reviews and 4.8 out of five stars on Tripadvisor.

Another visitor hailed the location as “one of the most beautiful beaches” they had ever been to, scoring it a 5/5. “Amazing white sandy beach with clear turquoise chilly water. Definitely worth a visit as one of the most beautiful beaches we’ve ever been to,” they wrote.

A third agreed, saying “this is a beach to put on your bucket list”.

The five star review read: “The drive along the single track road is long, very long (and fun in some places… think Top Gear roads)….. the scenery makes up for the long drive. There’s a couple of places to stop off along the way for photo opportunities, and it’s worth doing. Honestly!”

To reach Sanna Bay, visitors must drive through a scenic route before walking over the dunes. It lies at the very end of one of the roads which branches out west from Kilchoan.

Travellers must navigate a single lane which stretches for 20 miles, winding through a whimsical forest on the shore of Ardnamurchan peninsula.

The reviewer added: “There’s a car park at the end of the long winding road, which has a foot track down to the beach.”

However, the beach-goer warned that it may be “unsuitable for anyone with walking problems”.
