Peak District named among top spots for an autumn staycation

Staycation planning has just got slightly easier, with the top spots in the UK named. Included on the list was the Peak District National Park and other stunning destinations.
In fact searches for ‘England countryside cottage’ have spiked on the photo-sharing platform Pinterest, while Google searches for popular countryside locations such as the Cotsworlds and the Peak District have risen in the last month. With that in mind new research has found the best countryside locations for this autumn - and the Peak District has been named in the top 10. Travel booking platform Omio shared a list of the best UK countryside locations for Autumn getaways using weather data. They looked at the average number of rainfall days and average highest temperature for nine of the the most popular UK countryside locations across the three autumn months of September, October and November.
Naturally, southern locations dominate the first half of the list where the weather is often better, with the Norfolk Broads coming out on top, with an average of only 9.3 days of rain over the three months and average temperature highs of 14.2C.
The Broads’ are a network of rivers and lakes and are one of the UK’s most unique National Parks, offering a mix of tranquil countryside and charming waterside villages, such as Horning and Wroxham.
For those who enjoy the blissful sounds of nature, cosy village pubs and breathtaking seasonal scenery, an autumn escape to the Norfolk Broads might be just the retreat you need pre-Christmas.
The New Forest in Hampshire ranked in second place. Known for its ancient woodlands, open heathlands, and free-roaming ponies, it is one of the UK’s most enchanting countryside locations. From September to November, visitors and locals alike can expect 10 days of rainfall and temperature highs of 14.7C.
The Cotswolds followed in third place, an area known for its idyllic villages with stone cottages, surrounded by rolling hills.
Coming in seventh place is the Peak District, right on the doorstep of Greater Manchester. This is a landscape with no shortage of stunning walks, with breathtaking moorland, magnificent reservoirs and quaint villages packed full of cosy pubs.
