How to watch the 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup on TV in Spain

The 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup kicks off today (Friday August 22nd). If you’re a fan and live in Spain or are here on holiday, the good news is there are ways to watch the matches on television.

The 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup will be hosted by England this year, and runs from August 22nd to September 27th in a tournament that will bring together the 16 best female national rugby teams on the planet.

England are the favourites, playing at home and looking to dethrone New Zealand, champions of the last two tournaments in 2017 and 2021. The Black Ferns are seeking their third consecutive title with spectacular rugby and legends such as Portia Woodman, Waaka, Brazier, and Demant.

Spain is returning to the World Cup after missing out on the last one, and Las Leonas (The Lionesses), with a revamped squad, are dreaming of reaching the quarterfinals.

More than 40,000 tickets have also been sold for the opening match of the Women's Rugby World Cup at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland on Friday August 22nd, with World Rugby expecting that figure to be closer to 50,000 before the match gets under way. This will be between hosts England the USA.

Reigning champions New Zealand will begin defending their title in their first match against Spain in York this Sunday August 24th.

The grand finale at the Twickenham Allianz Stadium in London will take place on September 27th and is set to be best-attended women’s rugby union match in history with 82,000 already sold.

Whether you’re a fan of the English Red Roses, the Spanish Leonas or the Canadian Canucks, you will still be able keep up to date with the matches and support your favourite from here.

In fact, you'll be able to watch the games on television in Spain, from your home or hotel accommodation and quite possibly some bars.

In Spain, the tournament will be broadcast on public broadcaster RTVE's sports channel Teledeporte, as well as on subscription Movistar Plus+.

Teledeporte will be showing all the matches of the Spanish national team free of charge. The channel will also broadcast a curated selection of group stage matches, as well as all the tournament finals.

On the other hand, subscription service Movistar Plus+ will broadcast all the Rugby World Cup matches. Customers with the MiMovistar "Sports" and "Premium" options will be able to access all games. Some coverage will also be available to all users, regardless of their internet provider, through the OTT option at movistarplus.es, which will include the most important matches.

If you really want to make sure you get to watch any game you want, regardless of whether you're a Movistar+ customer or not, you can simply pay €9.99 to get a monthly subscription to Movistar+ sports package.

Match broadcasts will be spread across several of the platform's channels including Ellas Vamos (channel 66), Vamos (channel 8) and on the Deportes por M+ channels (channels 63 to 65).

Spain's matches

Spain will be playing on August 24th against former champions New Zealand as mentioned, then against Ireland on August 31st and then Japan on September 7th.

England's matches

England meanwhile will be playing against USA on August 22nd, against Samoa on August 30th and Australia on September 6th.

Wales' matches

Fans of the Welsh team will play against familiar foes Scotland on Saturday August 23rd and then against Canada on August 30th, followed by Fiji on September 6th.

Scotland's matches

And if you're supporting the Scottish team, you'll want to be ready for their first match against Wales as mentioned above on August 23rd. They will also be playing Fiji on August 30th and Canada on September 6th.

Ireland's matches

The Irish women’s team will first be facing Japan on August 24th and will then meet Spain on August 31st, followed by New Zealand on September 7th.

Canada's matches

Canadian fans can watch their team first meet Fiji on August 23rd, followed by Wales on August 30th.

New Zealand's matches

As mentioned, New Zealand will first play Spain this Sunday August 24th, then meet Japan on August 31st and Ireland on September 7th.

Australia's matches

Australia will face Samoa on August 23rd, USA on August 30th and then England on September 6th.

Later stages

Quarter finals one and two will take place on September 13th, while quarter finals three and four will be held on September 14th.

Friday September 19th will see the first semi-final and then September 20th will be the second semi-final.

The final will then take place on Saturday September 27th, with the bronze final match also being held the same day.
