Four in 10 Gen Z will miss out on summer bucket list as they don't have access to a car

Almost half of Gen Z may have to forgo their summer bucket list adventures as they do not have access to a car. In addition, a survey involving 2,000 adults highlighted that even though many young people possess a driving licence, 16 percent are still off the road because they lack insurance.
This leaves numerous young adults unable to tick off their summer bucket list which includes going on impromptu road trips or visiting trending eateries across the country. One third are also eager to attend a festival, with Reading and Leeds being the top pick, but without a car this can be difficult.
The study, initiated by Veygo, coincides with the launch of their 'Gig in a Limo' competition, featuring pop sensation and Reading Festival act Nieve Ella, alongside tickets to the event itself, aiming to make summer aspirations a reality.
Nieve Ella, who urges fans to check out her Instagram page to participate in the contest, commented: "Festivals are a rite of passage for many young people this summer. But getting there – especially with your mates – isn't always simple."
Social media has been a significant influence, with two thirds of respondents planning their summers based on online content. The research went on to explore the top viral UK hotspots making their way onto summer bucket lists – which includes Loch Lomond, the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye, and Cheddar Gorge.
The dramatic landscape surrounding Loch Lomond has sparked over 630,000 Instagram posts, with enthusiasts displaying paddleboarding adventures, wild swimming escapades, and breathtaking hiking expeditions.
Additionally featured on the roster is Portmeirion, the Italian-inspired village nestled in North Wales – which has generated over 10,000 TikTok creations – alongside Northern Ireland's renowned Giant's Causeway.
According to the poll conducted via OnePoll, many are desperate to check out Chatsworth House in the Peak District, after it racked up more than 22 million views alone on TikTok.
Young driver expert James Armstrong, from the car insurer Veygo, said: "Summer should be about saying yes – to last-minute plans and unforgettable moments with friends. But all too often, access to a car or insurance holds young people back."
"We are putting them in the driving seat of their summer with our flexible range of insurance options, helping them unlock their bucket list plans, on their terms."
