Europe’s ‘best’ train journey with incredible views - only £6

This is the most "underrated" train journey in Europe that offers you the "best scenery" on the continent, according to one British tourist. Train travel is a common way to get around Europe, especially during an interrailing trip between some of the most popular cities to visit. Some journeys are more scenic than others, and this British traveller has found the most overlooked one that only cost her £6 to take.
TikTok user Em’s Side Quests is a British tourist who documents her travels around the world. Her latest travels brought her to Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she experienced a number of locations. The country, located in the Balkan region of southeastern Europe, is becoming more popular with tourists who flock there for its history and natural beauty. It is here that she found Europe's most "underrated" train journey.
In a viral TikTok video that has received more than 24,000 views since it was first shared on August 9, Em takes us on a two-and-a-half-hour journey from Mostar to Sarajevo. "Balkan trains are so underrated," she wrote in the caption of her post.
"This is the single most underrated train journey I've ever taken, so don't let this old retro train station fool you," she tells viewers. She shows off the no-frills station in Mostar, where she even had to walk across the tracks to get to her platform.
The TikTok user tells viewers to sit on the right hand side of the train as it "offers some of the best scenery you can get on a train journey".
She seems blown away by the journey, as it is "not even advertised as a scenic train". She said: "It's literally just a standard train and it only cost me £6 for this two and a half hour journey."
"The real reason people take this train is because of the views you get. There are so many different landscapes, from countryside to rivers to mountains.
"It's a very simple train with no dining cart, but I had plenty of snacks to keep me going."
Mostar and Sarajevo are both popular destinations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In Mostar, tourists enjoy attractions like the Old Bridge, the Neretva River and the local markets.
In Sarajevo, the capital of the country, visitors go to the Museum Of Crimes Against Humanity And Genocide 1992-1995, the historic Baščaršija district, and the Latin Bridge.
When it comes to the train journey between the two cities, this TikToker was not alone in thinking it was incredible. A slew of other TikTok users took to the comments section of the video with their thoughts.
One commenter wrote: "100% worth it. One of the best train rides anywhere!" Another said: "Amazing train! We did it."
A third wrote: "I was in Sarajevo earlier this year. Loved it. Such an interesting place (especially if you're interested in WW1 as I am)."
