Austrian Airlines CEO Fact Checks ‘Exaggerated’ U.S. Border Stories

Austrian Airlines CEO Fact Checks ‘Exaggerated’ U.S. Border Stories

With headlines swirling about tourists denied entry into the U.S., Austrian Airlines CEO Annette Mann is stepping in to reframe the narrative. When fear threatens bookings, data can help limit the damage.

Austrian Airlines CEO Annette Mann is pushing back on “exaggerated (social) media stories” about travel to the United States.

In a colorful LinkedIn post published on Thursday morning, Mann sought to address anxiety among some inbound travelers about crossing the U.S. border. “There is no need [to] fear a randomly denied entry,” she said.

The chief executive’s intervention follows a series of high-profile reports of visitors facing problems when attempting to enter the United States.

Mann started her post with a question: “Do you see any increases in denied entries at the U.S. border? This was probably one of the most asked questions I got over the last few weeks, fueled by ‘stories’ that went viral in some media channels and social feeds. Short answer for the busy people amongst you: we see #nochange!,”

As previously reported by Skift, the process for foreign visitors applying to enter the U.S. has not changed significantly. The larger issue is alleged intensified enforcement of rules at the border.
