Sky TV finally gets much cheaper this week, you'll just need to ditch your dish

Sky TV finally gets much cheaper this week, you'll just need to ditch your dish

Sky Glass Air

A new way to tune into premium shows and movies is launching from Sky this week, and it's not as expensive as you might think. In fact, the latest Sky Glass Air television will start from just £6 per month when it goes on sale from June 10th. This internet connected telly was first announced all the way back in February during the Sky Glass Gen 2 launch and it's ready to start shipping to homes across the UK.

Although it's not quite as feature-packed as its more expensive sibling—there's no in-built soundbar, for example—Glass Air still offers a seamless way to watch live and on-demand content plus binge on boxsets and movies from platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, and Apple TV+.

Along with its low monthly price, there are some other benefits. Sky Glass Air is an all-in-one system, so there's no need for a separate set-top box. It also doesn't need a dish stuck the chimney and can be DIY installed meaning you don't need to wait in for an engineer to visit.

It comes in three sizes (43”, 55”, and 65”) and the screen is fully compatible with pin-sharp 4K content - there's even Dolby Audio as well.

Other extras include personalised recommendations, full TV guide, access to Sky Sports and Cinema as well as a Playlists function which lets you store content to watch later. You'll also get hands-free voice control. That means it's possible to simply say “Hello Sky…” to turn on the TV, search for shows or genres from Sky and apps, adjust volume, add to Playlist and much more.

As we mentioned earlier, Sky Glass Air goes on sale from June 10, but before you get too excited about that £6 price, beware, as it doesn't paint the whole picture.

On top of that TV cost, you will also need to bolt on content packs, which start from £15 per month. That's for the basic Essential TV package. Of course, the more channels you add - like sports, movies and premium shows - the more the price will increase.

You can get the Glass Air and plenty of things to watch for as little as £21 per month - full pricing and ways to buy will go live on Tuesday, so watch this space.

Speaking about the update, Carli Kerr, MD of Sky TV & NOW said, "With Sky Glass Air, we're bringing the Sky experience to more people through a beautifully designed TV with stunning picture quality from just £6 a month.

"It's all about giving people better for less: more choice, great tech, and the content they love, without compromising on quality. From the ultimate performance of Glass Gen 2 to the incredible value of Air, there’s now a Sky Glass to suit everyone, whether you’re new to Sky or already with us."
