The 'underrated' BBC drama that has viewers hooked with perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score

One "brilliant" and underrated BBC drama has viewers hooked with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score. One season of the gripping British mystery series received a perfect 100% rating from critics, who hailed its twisty storyline that keeps you guessing throughout. The first series fared nearly just as well, with a near-perfect score of 92%.
Written and directed by BAFTA-winning Ben Chanan, The Capture delves into a chilling world where deepfakes, manipulated CCTV footage, and misinformation can turn reality on its head. It follows a tenacious young detective who begins to uncover a conspiracy when handling the case of a British ex-soldier.
The Afghanistan war veteran, played by Callum Turner, has his life torn apart when apparently solid CCTV footage implicates him in a crime he insists he didn’t commit.
As the Detective Inspector, played by Holliday Grainger, investigates the evidence, viewers gradually discover a web of government, intelligence, and corporate manipulation.
While many questioned its plausibility, the overwhelming majority of viewers agreed on one thing: its entertainment factor. The Capture keeps you on your toes throughout, causing you to question who and what you think you can trust.
"The Capture ended with a 70-minute finale that was implausible, elaborate, daft and had more twists than a cheap garden hose. It was also fabulously entertaining," wrote Carol Midgley for The Times, featured on Rotten Tomatoes.
On IMDB, where the series received a solid score of eight out of ten from more than 27,000 viewers, one critic described it as a "mind-blowing" drama.
They wrote: "This isn't your average six-part mystery series, this will have you scratching your head, questioning everything you see, and doubting the things you've seen with your own eyes."
Another added: “This show is underrated... you'll be on the very edge of your seat throughout the show!”
They said: "Everything about the drama, including the dialogue and the performances, is top-notch. It is fascinating that this show brings attention to how advanced technology has gotten in recent times as well as where we are headed in the future."
Some weren't as convinced, writing simply "meh, it passed the time."
Either way, the BBC has announced its return for a third series. The first series premiered in 2019, followed by the second in 2022. Neither season is available on BBC iPlayer at the time of writing, but they have moved to Netflix.
