Tense Donald Trump row erupts on GB News as star rages: 'Last thing UK needs!'

GB News returned to screens with presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ellie Costello at the helm; however, during a discussion about the latest US tariffs news, a row erupted among the segment's guests. The broadcasters welcomed Andy Williams and Clare Muldoon to discuss the day's headlines alongside the news that UK steel will now face a 25% import tax after President Donald Trump ordered a new tax on all steel and aluminium entering the US. This tax now cancels out previous quota arrangements and exemptions that affect the UK and EU.
Andy stated: "This is the last thing the UK needs; we’re already teetering on the edge of recession. We haven't seen any growth, and we had a difficult Spring statement." However, Clare hit back: "Look at the timeline of this the Labour Government got voted in last summer, Trump’s administration took over in January, so they knew this was coming, and they knew we were out of Europe, so why did they not make diplomatic moves to smooth over the water and make sure this wouldn’t happen."
Andy slammed: “You’re talking like Donald Trump, Clare. He’s not somebody who’s exactly easy to negotiate with; Lauren McKevitt said it earlier he’s a bully, and he’ll do whatever he likes."
"He'll do whatever he wants; that doesn't necessarily equate to Trump being a bully," she argued.
Andy disagreed: "I think he is a bully. How do you negotiate with somebody who will do whatever he fancies?" However, before he could finish, Clare interrupted: “Because you play to your own country’s strengths."
"We've got a lot of strength in this country, that this government don't seem to be able to identify themselves. But why didn't they say to them, 'We can make sure that you don’t buy the German vehicles; you can buy British vehicles', which would have made more sense."
Clare continued: "Why've we still got these tariffs on America for data. I just don't understand it."
Since he resumed office in January, the US president has been fighting against what he believes are America’s unfair trading conditions.
