Jamie McCann dead: Legend who worked with Foo Fighters and Ramones icons dies at 48

Jamie McCann has died at the age of 48. The recording engineer and producer had worked with many iconic bands including the punk supergroup Me First and the Gimme Gimmes whose members included Ramones star C. J. Ramone and Foo Fighters Chris Shiflett. His death occurred on April 24 but has only just become public. The news was confirmed by punk legend Fat Mike on Instagram.

"Very sad day… Jamie McMann died way too young… For those of you who don’t know him. He was the engineer at Motor Studios for 7 years. He was the guy I spent 12 hours a day with making some of the best music of my career. Too many all nighters? No such thing when you’re making music that matters… Look him up on Wikipedia. Please…. He made so many amazing records!!!! Jamie, thank you for everything….You will not be forgotten!" he wrote in a heartfelt tribute. No cause of death has yet been released.

Fans were stunned by the news and took to the comments to share their condolences.

"That’s sad. Sorry for his family and the community he helped build. Legacy is build in those all nighters universe blessed," one wrote.

"What a great career, and he looked like a really awesome talent and character. Sorry for your loss... RIP Jamie," another added.

"His work is out there forever he really left his mark what a life," a third chimed in.

"This man is responsible for soooo many fantastic albums throughout the years. He'll surely be missed," a fifth penned.

Meanwhilea sixth commented: "So sorry to hear this! Grateful for all the great music he helped make that I've loved!! Enjoy the other side Jamie!!"

Jamie had worked across multiple genres of music since beginning his career in 2002 working at San Francisco's historic Hyde Street Studios.

He had worked closely with Fat Mike, who announced his death, moving on to work at his Motor Studios in San Francisco.

He had recently relocated to Los Angeles where he had continued to produce records for various artists and labels.
