J.Crew Just Released a New Generation of Its Iconic Rollneck Sweaters

J.Crew has just released a new generation of its iconic Rollneck sweater, and I couldn’t be more excited. First designed in 1988, it’s been a wardrobe staple for nearly 40 years—and clearly isn’t going anywhere. For 2025, the classic silhouette has been subtly refreshed in shape, now available in nine solid colors and four striped options. This 100% cotton cult-favorite is so beloved that it’s available in men's, kids', and even a limited-edition version for dogs.
The Rollneck is already going viral on TikTok, and it’s easy to see why—it’s one of those elevated basics you’ll wear on repeat and always look effortlessly chic. Personally, I’ve been a fan of the original for years, and I already have a few shades of the new one in my cart.
J.Crew’s Chief Marketing Officer, Julia Collier, summed it up perfectly in a recent press release: “The Rollneck is an icon of our brand: it’s a timeless piece that represents classic American style, but is diverse enough to be worn and styled in so many different ways. We wanted to celebrate that through this cast of characters who individually represent the many facets of our heritage: classic, prep, country, collegiate, and are redefining what those things mean to a new generation of Americans.”
