Charli XCX accused of 'miming' at Glastonbury as famous face appears as 'Apple Girl'

Charli XCX took to the Other Stage at Worthy Farm as the final headliner on Saturday - and she certainly worked the Glastonbury crowd. In comparison to a sparse looking turnout for Neil Young, Charli was treated to a bumper audience as she left little to the imagination in her energetic performance.
Taking to the stage in a black crop top and skimpy paints, she seductively teased the crowd and cameras. However, with those in attendance lapping up the display, it appears viewers at home weren't as impressed.
Taking to Twitter/X, some fans blasted the singer for seemingly miming. One user fumed: "Oh ffs can’t watch Scissor Sisters and Charli XCX is bloody dreadful. Could literally be any random person miming. WTF for a Glastonbury Saturday night, disappointing."
Another added: "Predictable but shame nonetheless that charli xcx can't sing live #Glastonbury2025 #charlixcx FAKE." And a third said: "Charli xcx Embarressing [sic]that, turning up to walk around stage pretending to sing…"
"What part of Charli XCX is “live music” ? Get her off that stage ffs #Glastonbury2025," raged another.
However, it wasn't all negative as another gushed: "Charli xcx the icon you are #Glastonbury2025." A second agreed, saying: "charli xcx killing it."
And a third penned: "Charli xcx is taking over Glasto, she’s bloody amazing."
And as she found her "Apple Girl", cameras panned onto American singer Gracie Abrams.
The 32-year-old artist from Cambridge reached new heights in the music industry last year after releasing hit album Brat. The album topped the charts in the UK, Ireland, and Australia. And it also made an impressive debut at number three on the Billboard 200.
The singer is best known for hits like 360, 365, Speed Drive, Apple, Official, and not forgetting her earlier bangers Boom Clap, Boys, and Vroom Vroom.
She had earlier been spotted alongside Denise Welch in the build-up to her show. Denise, who is the mum of The 1975's lead singer Matty Healy, shared a snap of the pair on social media. She captioned the sun-soaked image: "Talking about my BRAT flag."
Charli and Matty are close pals, with the frontman of The 1975 calling out his friend during his own set.
Earlier on Saturday, Kneecap's controversial Glastonbury set caused bosses to shut down the West Holts stage ahead of the Irish trio's performance. It came after calls for the festival to pull the band from the festival.
Instead, the BBC just removed them from their live streaming of the festival. But such was the size of the crowd prior to their appearance, the area was closed off, with no other fans allowed to enter approximately an hour before they entered the stage.
