Beloved BBC game show to return - with Alison Hammond replacing original host

Alison Hammond will be hosting the return of the hit BBC game show, Hole In The Wall.
The 50-year-old Great British Bake Off and This Morning host will be taking up the reins on the BBC show, which proved popular during its two series until finishing in 2009. Alison will be following in the footsteps of legendary TV game show host Dale Winton, who hosted the original series. The second series of the show had Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke at the helm.
Speaking to The Sun, a source told them: "Hole In The Wall got great ratings when it first came out so the Beeb have decided to bring it back. They are currently filming the pilot to see how it shapes up. They wanted to sign Alison and she jumped at the chance to do it."
The source added that Alison was "one of TV’s most in demand stars" and that the BBC were "over the moon that they’ve signed her." This new addition to Alison's TV CV does not mean she will be cutting back on the other shows she is involved with. The source said: "Alison adores her job and is always on the lookout for shows where she can have a real laugh -that’s why she loves presenting Bake Off and This Morning. They are light-hearted and fun."
Hole In The Wall sees celebrities trying to squeeze through different shapes that make up the hole in a moving wall. Based on a Japanese format, the celebs are dressed in lycra and the holes become increasingly more challenging.
Meanwhile, Alison delighted fans when she posted a rare photo of her toyboy boyfriend as she gushed over him for Valentine's Day.
The TV presenter typically keeps her romances away from the public eye, yet decided to shake things up as she celebrated the day of love. She posted a rare photo of her partner David Putman as they cosied up to each other in the loved up snap. Alison, 50, had faced split rumours with David, 27, after they spent time apart over Christmas.
The This Morning host embarked on her relationship with masseuse David in December 2023. They have come under some scrutiny over their 23-year age gap, yet Alison and David have been able to shrug it off. She recently insisted David is "mature and sensible" when she was questioned about her romance last year.
