Amazon Prime thriller leaves viewers fuming over 'worst movie I've ever watched'

Amazon Prime subscribers are fuming over a 2021 thriller after the movie clip made an unexpected comeback on the web.
John and the Hole, the terrifying 2021 horror-drama, is currently streaming on Amazon Prime, stirring controversy amongst its viewers.
The bewildering tale stars Michael C. Hall and chronicles the story of 13-year-old John (played by Charlie Shotwell), who finds himself estranged from his wealthy family before stumbling upon an incomplete bunker in the forest adjacent to his homestead.
In a spine-tingling twist, he incapacitates his parents (portrayed by Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Ehle) and his older sister (Taissa Farmiga), condemning them to the hole as he usurps control over their elegant dwelling.
Audiences are taken through a psychological maze that lays bare John's emotional disconnection and the harrowing chain of events that ensue as his family struggles in their subterranean prison, reports Surrey Live.
Despite its enigmatic allure, the film's sluggish momentum, ambiguity, and irksome characters have sparked harsh criticism from disgruntled viewers.
In spite of viral snippets shared on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram sparking curiosity, Google reviews reveal widespread disillusionment.
One exasperated viewer implored others: "Please don't watch this, I beg u. It's time ull never get back. Two hrs of my life was just stolen from me.
"You'd be more productive going in your backyard and staring at the grass, maybe you'll see an ant or bug , maybe u won't. Regardless, it would be better than this movie."
A disgruntled viewer vented their frustration online, declaring: "I never write movie reviews, largely because I see it as a complete waste of time. However, this movie was so terrible that it's worth it to warn others. DO NOT WATCH. It was SO SO SO SLOW AND NOTHING HAPPENS. I found myself so agitated by how many empty scenes there were, and I had to get up every few minutes to skip through it."
Another unimpressed cinephile echoed similar sentiments: "This was literally THE WORST MOVIE I have ever watched. From what the description said I thought there would be some tale of the family trying to escape after being locked in this 'hole' by the 13 year old boy. There was nothing. They were locked there and literally nothing happened. Nothing at all."
On the flip side, some moviegoers found delight in "John and the Hole," as one enthusiast praised: "I love the movie! I don't know why people give it a one star!"
