One A Place in the Sun episode saw a couple from Edinburgh face an emotional rollercoaster in their quest for the perfect Spanish abode. Manigeh and Ian, who share 10 children and four grandchildren, were eager to purchase their first joint property in Torrevieja, Spain, seeking the vibrant Spanish lifestyle and the hustle of a lively town.

Their journey began with a reality check from presenter Jean Johansson, who cautioned that their £90,000 budget would be tight for the two-bedroom home they desired. Jean warned them about the tough market, saying: "It is a challenge in this area so I know what you can get for £90,000. There will be compromises to be had but I'm going to do my best to get all what you want into the property."

Despite the initial concerns, Jean triumphantly located a three-bedroom townhouse priced at just £84,052, capturing the couple's hearts. They promptly instructed Jean to offer £74,000, citing the kitchen needed updating.

The negotiation ended when Jean announced the seller's acceptance of a counteroffer at £81,000, prompting tears of joy from Manigeh as she expressed her gratitude. Jean shared in the elation, telling the couple: "I'm so happy for you guys," on the Channel 4 show.

Manigeh was over the moon, exclaiming: "That is unbelievable, I'm really happy."

As tears of joy streamed down his partner's face, Ian remarked: "I think that says it all."

Yet, in a devastating turn of events at the programme's conclusion, Jean disclosed a sorrowful twist: the couple's dreams were dashed when the property they sought was withdrawn from the market at the last moment.

Jean lamented: "What a great search. However, a few days later the seller decided to withdraw from the sale and take the property off the market. Such disappointing news for Manigeh and Ian but I hope they're able to find their dream home soon."

In other news, A Place in the Sun's Jean shared an insider tidbit during an interview with OK!magazine last November. She confessed that the presenters don't switch outfits during filming to maintain the illusion that the show unfolds within a single day.

She revealed: "If there was a thing called 'smell-o-vision', we would not be on air. Because we want each show to look like everything happens in one day, we all wear the same outfits for six days straight. So the big secret of the show is that we stink."
